What it's all about: Brooks Pepperfire Foods Inc. is a small rapidly expanding business operating on pure cash flow who with the help of the government grants for small businesses was about to create upwards of 30 jobs by moving into a larger facility and expanding their business activities. An abrupt cancellation of the government funded program forced them to come up with an interim solution that would buy them the time to replace the resources that were lost.
Rather than postpone the much needed jobs, the company decided to circumvent the government and other institutional channels and go directly to their customers, colleagues, network contacts and the twitterverse to make as much noise as possible so that these jobs could be created on schedule. The plan empowered people to have an immediate positive impact on our economy, which was in a state of recession at the time and was in real need of jobs.
Shortly after the launch of the project, the company began working directly with the Canadian Government office of the Minister of State (Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec) to determine their eligibility and ability to expand using Government programs.
On October 10th, the company announced approval from the Minister and is now waiting support from the banking sector to proceed with the project.
